Start of travels

Tomorrow, I get on a train and go to other countries again. I’m spending 3 weeks in Yerp before Brexit (as currently scheduled), returning to real life on 27 October 2019.

I’m currently in London, having watched a gig of many parts at the 02 Forum in Kentish Town. The blog’s name is taken from a Kingmaker song, one of the bands I saw today with my most excellent brother. We also watched Jim Bob from Carter USM perform a solo set as well other acts from my formative years.

These are two bands/artists who I never thought I’d see live and I am really glad I have. I am so got to spend the day with our kid, which is a super treat, as he is definitely one of my favourite human beings. The Kingmaker lyric was updated from 30 to 50 years at the gig today, in canny recognition of the audience. I listened to Kingmaker (the NME-credited inventors of Britpop, no less) and Carter USM starting around 1993 and still listen to their music today.

Tomorrow is the Eurostar to Paris, then the fun (genuine fun) of cycling across Paris to Gare de Lyon for the high speed train to Milan.

I will regale you as before with tales and photos along the way….
